Will copyright protection applicable for Link/url of articles?

I am curious to know whether the copyright protection will be applicable for the Link/url of the webpage content.

I will give the background for raising this question.

We are collecting knols. . i-e We will create a list of knols by collecting links of the those knols.

If you are not familiar with knol, Knol is provided by Google for publishing articles.

One of the Authors of the knol asked me to remove his knol from our collection, by saying that his knol is copyright protected.

I know that content of any article can be protected by copyright, and we should not use the content without asking prior permission/approval from the author.

But, is it strange that asking to remove link/url of the article which is protected by the copyright.
